Terms of use

Playing

GrooveArena is free to play. You can join a private room as a guest with nothing but a name. An account is needed for ranked play and for publishing loops to the library.

Do not use the service to harass anyone, to disrupt other people's rounds, or to automate play. We can end a session or an account that does.

What you make

The loops you make are yours. Publishing one to the library gives us permission to host it, show it, and let other players open a copy of it in the arena — that is what publishing means here, and it is the whole point of the library.

You can ask for a published loop to be removed and we will remove it. Copies other players already opened are their own from that point on, which is a limit we cannot engineer around.

What you upload

Only upload audio you have the right to use. If you publish something that infringes someone else's rights, we will take it down when we are told about it.

Ranked

Ranked results are decided by the server and by the room. We reserve the right to void a match, reset a rating, or remove an account from the ladder where there is evidence of manipulation.

Nothing that can be bought changes how a round is judged. Ranked runs on the same kit for everybody, whatever anyone has spent, and that is a rule rather than a current state of affairs.

Supporting

Supporting is optional and buys none of the game. It is available monthly, yearly, or once for life, and what it gets you is a room of 8 instead of 3, coins each period, downloads with no marker tone, and a badge.

Payments are taken by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who are the merchant of record — your contract for the payment itself is with them, and their buyer terms apply to it alongside these.

A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel from your account page at any time; you keep Supporter until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Prices can change. A change never applies to a period already paid for, and a subscription renewing at a new price is something you will be told about before it is taken.

Coins

Coins are an in-game score for unlocking kits and name colours. They are not money, not a currency, and not a stored balance you hold with us: they cannot be transferred between accounts, sold, or exchanged for cash. Every round pays them, so nothing that coins unlock is reachable only by paying.

Coins do not expire. If an account is closed, whatever is left in it goes with it. What happens to the money behind a coin purchase is a separate question and it is answered on the refund policy, not here.

Refunds

Every purchase can be refunded within 15 days, for any reason or for no reason, with no exceptions — including purchases whose coins you have already spent. The full policy, and how to ask, is on the refund policy page.

The service itself

GrooveArena is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available at any particular moment, and we may change how the game works — including the rules of a round.

Where a change would remove something you have paid for, the refund policy is the answer, and it is written so that it always can be.

Changes to these terms

These terms can change. The date at the top moves when they do, and that date is the signal — there is no separate announcement. Carrying on using the service after a change means the new terms apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and its courts are where a dispute about them would be heard. This does not remove protections you have under the law of the country you live in, which apply regardless of what this section says.
